The Big Picture Workshop ~ Fuerteventura 2013

Overview


Martin and I will each have 7 seater hire cars to carry 6 delegates and ourselves to the various shooting locations. Mark our fixer on the island will carry the models and all the shooting kit in his 4x4 pick up.

There will be cold boxes of water and soft drinks in the 4x4.
Bring loo roll from the hotel as we will be away from civilisation for extended periods.

Please note that this is not a package holiday. We will organise transfers to and from the shoot locations and provide all food and drink during the day. Flights, accommodation and dinner are additional costs. You will need to organise your own travel insurance.

Hotel

The Barcelo hotel is large, clean and well maintained. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms.There are hair driers in the rooms along with a safe for valuables.

The hotel lobby bar is open until 12.30am and in Jan 2012 a pint of beer cost €3 and a generous Bombay Sapphire Gin and tonic was €5. A pianist entertains guests enjoying pre dinner drinks. The included breakfast is buffet style with a superb range of healthy choices as well as a full cooked feast option.

The hotel is located 100m from a well appointed chemist and a plethora of restaurants and bars.

In the evenings delegates are free to do their own thing it would be impossible to please everyone with a single restaurant choice but you are of course welcome to join us!
We will probably eat Mexican one night and maybe a steak on the other. There are numerous Indian, Italian, Mexican and Spanish, restaurants within a 5 minute walk of the hotel.

Timetable

We will meet in the reception of the  Barcelo hotel in Correlejo at 09.15 on both workshop days. Each day's itinerary will be decided upon at the start of the session depending upon the cloud cover and wind etc to optimise our time at our five key shooting locations.

Lunch is likely to be a pizza at one of the many small island restaurants at about 13:00.
These will be pre ordered earlier in the day to maximise our shooting time.

We will be back at the hotel by about 20:00 having shot the afterglow of the sunset over the sea from the Western shore one night and at about 19:00 having shot the sunset from nearer Correlejo on the other night.

Recommended kit list

We are shooting in dusty and sandy locations. Fuerteventura is known for being windy so sand storms can kick up from time to time. Equipment protection will need to be considered.
1. One SLR, with up to 3 lenses
2. A PW Plus 2, or a TT1, or a TT5 programmed to transmit only mode on C1 and C2
3. A backup camera body
4. Blower brush to remove sand from kit
5. Sensor cleaner

If you don't own one of the items mentioned don't feel the need to rush out and buy one just for the workshop. Get in touch with us and we may be able to lend you a bit of kit for the day.

Cancellation Policy

As our costs for each workshop remain the same no matter how many delegates attend, please note that just like any pre-booked tickets for the theatre, concert, flights etc, we are unable to give any refund in the event of non-attendance, regardless of the circumstances. The exception to this is if we have prior notice and are able to put a cancellation place back online AND your place is resold.  In this event we will of course make a full refund or credit to you. We also reserve the right to cancel any workshop if there is insufficient demand, especially if it means that our costs would be higher than our income.  Please therefore do not leave it until the last few weeks if you are interested in a particular date, as you may find that it has been removed!
