Have you ever heard of a guy from New Zealand, who now happens to live in New York City and runs a big consulting business? His name is Sam Ovens and he definitely knows a thing or two about consulting.
First: if you have just a vague idea on what consulting really is and you have never heard of e.g. McKinsey, PWC and others, watch this video:
Now that you have an idea of what consulting is, I wanna tell you about the New Zealand/New York guy.
Sam Ovens started his business years ago, but he’s still a young guy. But he earns millions of dollars a month, so it might be useful to learn from him. Even if you don’t plan to run a consulting business.
Sam Ovens started consulting because he didn’t know better. Yep. He started from his parents’ house and made it all the way to a shiny glossy Manhattan office. And what he says about consulting? “It is the best way to start your own business and start earning nice amounts of money right off”. What makes him say that? he actually believes that you can be a consultant even when you have never run a business before and therefore you think, that you are probably the last person on planet Earth who could advise someone on business. And yet that’s exactly what you can do. Well, at least that’s what Mr. Ovens says.
He basically believes that you can become a consultant without any previous experience. He says that first, you need to sign a client. And after that, you should start worrying about the content itself. But not vice versa. Get a client and learn how to consult him at the same time. Bottom line is, you don’t need to know all your ins and outs prior to getting a client. Sound tempting? I know… But no matter when you will have to learn it, the point is that you actually will have to learn it finally. If you are curious, you can click here to read more about the blueprint.
