Why junior fresnels?
Arri Fresnels are the perfect solution in small
studios where grid height is a problem. The classic ARRI construction
of corrosion resistant extruded and die cast aluminum maximizes body
strength while maintaining the lightweight of an ideal location fixture.
Despite the small size, short focal length lenses with wider angles
give more light output and better light distribution over the full beam
area.
The Arri 300 Watt Plus Fresnel is designed to gather as much light
as possible and direct it through the 3.2" (80 mm) low expansion,
borosillicate fresnel lens producing a soft, even field of light. The
yoke allows it to be attached to any 5/8" stud. Beam angle in the flood
position is 49 degrees and a narrow 15 degrees while in the spot
position.

- "My all time favourite light source at winter weddings is the Fresnel spotlight. The great thing about working with continuous light is you
can see exactly what you are shooting and by adjusting the light focus
and barn doors all sorts of light shapes can be created. I usually rig
my Arri 300w junior on a stand near the middle of a room. I set my
camera to my magic exposure of ISO800, 1/60th second, at f/4 and then
call in the bride and groom for a shoot session. Julie and I can
usually take 8 or 10 frames in a single room in just a few minutes that
will make the album. We then let the bride and groom mingle again while
we are rigging the Arri in another room." -
