About Us

We are a small company with a big profile. A player on the world stage working from a converted farm in Somerset. Our enthusiastic verve is creatively driven. We love image making and always strive to exceed our own and our customers' expectations. The foundation for our team's success comes from a continuing education in image-making and business. We have never stopped learning and we have this wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on.

Lovegrove Foundations

The Lovegroves burst onto the wedding scene back in 2000 with a ‘shoot from the hip’ approach – often with the camera in one hand and a flashgun in the other. "Whilst shooting news all over the country for the BBC in the early 90's, I'd worked alongside some of the finest Fleet Street photographers" Damien declares, "and if they could shoot that way then so could we.” It wasn’t conventional practice at a wedding but it worked very well indeed. Lovegrove Weddings took just two years to get to the top. “This created a bit of a storm at the time” recalls Damien. Despite their maverick image in the early days the Lovegrove approach remains strict and professional.

"It is no surprise that both fame and success at the very top of their industry have come so quickly to the Lovegroves. They are a winning combination with a recipe for success." - Professional Photographer magazine

Damien

Damien

Damien learned his trade as a cameraman and lighting director during 14 years at the BBC, working on programmes such as the Clothes Show, Top of the Pops and Casualty. Days off from filming were often spent taking photographs for a variety of top name clients including Peugeot, Motorola, and Adidas.

Then Julie made an entrance in his life and he realised that photography wasn't the only thing he was passionate about! She comes a very close second (yes, that is a joke) and anyone who has met Damien can't fail to be inspired and motivated by his enthusiasm for his second career. So much so that once you get him started on a subject it's hard to shut him up...

Fifteen years on, Damien has become one of the foremost trainers of photography and entrepreneurial business strategies in our industry. A published writer and regular columnist, Damien has traveled the globe sharing his knowledge and expertise.

Julie

Before Damien decided to become a full time photographer Julie had never picked up a professional camera, and was happy being a full time Mum to her three children.

When Damien left the security of the BBC, she panicked for a weekend, then helped him to establish their business, gradually becoming more and more involved. Whilst she still continues to run the administrative side to Lovegrove Photography, she is now also a fully-fledged photographer in her own right. For a few years she kept expecting to be 'found out' but now Julie is not only a top wedding photographer - she also specialises in pregnancy and baby photography.

The personal highlight of her new-found career was a week long assignment in Zambia, leaving Damien at home with the kids!

Julie also now takes care of all things financial.

Marko

The Lovegroves first met Marko when they were booked to photograph his wedding nine years ago. Marko and his wife Kate quickly became friends with Julie & Damien, and Marko's creative talent soon shone through. In no time at all he morphed from a top chef into Photoshop genius and he has now become one of the most wanted people in our industry.

Luke

Luke is now an invaluable member of our team. He is a talented illustrator and has also risen to the challenge of learning how to handle all the nuances and glitches of our new website and blog.  There is a frequent cry of ' Luuuuke' here, and a few moments later calm is restored :)  Examples of his illustration skills grace the pages of this website and our blog.

Blaise

Blaise joined us in April 2009, initially to cover Laura's maternity leave. We're delighted to be able to keep her on and also have Laura back part time. Blaise has a wealth of customer service experience, having trained as a Beauty Therapist at the famous Champneys Resort, which then led to a fabulous job flying the world with Virgin Atlantic. Working only in Upper Class she treated the rich and famous, but has now returned to her roots in sunny Nailsea!  Blaise is always cheerful and will answer your phone calls with a smile :)  Oh, and she also just happens to be Julie's daughter :)

Laura

We are delighted that Laura has returned to us after her Maternity Leave. She now works 3 days a week, and her main responsibility is organizing and looking after our online shop. We will now be able to expand our range of recommended products and if you have any questions about anything we sell please email her here.   She will also be answering the phone when necessary and as things have expanded and changed dramatically in the 9 months since she went on leave, she has a lot to catch up on!
