Behind any battery powered lighting system is the battery charger, replenishing the battery and keeping it in tip top condition. A poor charger can fail to revive a battery that has suffered deep discharge and can over cook a battery in the charging phase if it is left connected for too long. To overcome these and many more shortfalls Ctek of Sweden have developed the most advanced switch mode battery chargers in the world.
Key Benefits:
• Will look after the battery and keep it optimally topped up for immediate use.
•
Will protect the battery from the deep discharge that happens when a power pack is left for a week or more un-topped up. The
discharging is due to a small current drain from sensor circuits.
•
We recommend one Ctek charger per battery pack.
•
Because the ripple current of the Ctek XS 0.8 is so small, it can be
left plugged into the pack when mains is available at the shooting
location.
The XS 0.8 has a fully automatic, six step charging program:
1. Desulphation Desulphation with pulsing for sulphated batteries.
2. Bulk charge Main charge when 80% of charging takes place. The charger delivers a constant current of 1.8 Amps until the terminal voltage has risen to the required level.
3. Absorption Complete charge up to virtually 100%. The terminal voltage is maintained at the set level. During this phase the current drops successively so the terminal voltage does not become too high. If the absorption phase has been in progress for more than 18 hours the charger switches to maintenance charging. This function prevents damage if the battery is faulty.
4. Analyze Test if the battery can hold charge. Batteries that can not hold charge may need to be replaced.
5. Float Maintaining the battery voltage at maximum level by providing a constant voltage charge.
6. Pulse Maintenance the battery between 95% and 100%. The battery receives a pulse when the voltage drops. Keeps the battery in perfect condition when it is not used. The charger can be connected for months at a time.
Low ripple
The XS 0.8's ripple is <4%. The battery gains a long service life and there is no risk of damage to lights or flash units connected to the battery. A high current ripple heats the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger has a current ripple of 70 - 400% which is much larger than the maximum 5% for a modern sealed battery. Voltage ripple could harm other equipment, which is connected to the battery.
Temperature
To protect the charger from overheating, the XS 0.8 is fitted with power limitation. The power reduces when the ambient temperature increases. The power also reduces if the charger were to be covered, which protects the charger from damage. The charger continues to work, but at a lower output. When the ambient temperature drops, the power automatically increases again.

Please take care when removing pin from Mobil pack.
These pins are delicate and can snap after rough handling.
